Kevin Chaffee

Kevin Chaffee has spent his entire career working for his clients on a contingency fee basis. Whether representing injured plaintiffs and their families in personal injury cases, complex medical malpractice or nursing home abuse or neglect, Kevin works on a contingency fee basis so that he can ensure creative and efficient representation that leads to positive results. By partnering with his clients on a contingent basis, Kevin does not receive a fee unless he obtains money damages for his clients. This contingency practice eliminates the burden of charging high fees for an unnecessary army of paralegals and assistants and also eliminates the need to send his clients a monthly bill or require upfront payment. Without the burden of charging high hourly fees for unnecessary overhead, Kevin’s contingency practice creates a positive environment where he and his clients can work together to protect the client’s rights and obtain a satisfactory result.

After graduating from the University of Kansas School of Law, Kevin began his career at a prominent plaintiff’s firm as the only associate working for three partners with decades of experience as defense lawyers. While there, Kevin honed his skills representing plaintiffs in medical malpractice, personal injury, premises liability, pharmaceutical/medical device products liability, nursing home neglect or abuse litigation. Because the partners were prior defense lawyers, Kevin learned valuable skills on anticipating and overcoming common defense strategies. Kevin also learned how to efficiently represent injured parties by keeping costs low, and as a result, settlement proceeds high.

Kevin now brings that experience to the Nail Law Firm, where he continues to represent injured parties for a variety of injuries, including motor vehicle accidents, trucking accidents, medical malpractice/negligence cases, premises liability or “slip and fall” cases, and nursing home liability cases.

While in law school, Kevin was active amongst his peers. He was a Staff and Articles Editor for the Kansas Journal of Law and Public Policy and chaired the Law Journal’s Endowment Committee which created an endowed fund to promote scholarships and academic achievement amongst Journal Members. In his second year, Kevin reached the quarterfinals of the KU Law Moot Court Competition and was also a member of the Dean’s Fellows Program where he mentored first year law students.

Kevin also makes an effort to stay involved in the Kansas City Community.  In 2011, Kevin completed the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Associations’ Ross T. Roberts Trial Academy and now serves on the KCMBA’s Torts committee.  In 2014, Kevin was nominated to run in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Man & Woman of the Year Campaign.  Over the 10 week campaign, Kevin and his fellow candidates raised over $500,000 for the Midwest Chapter of the LLS.  Superlawyers ® Magazine also named Kevin to their 2014 Rising Stars List for his representation of personal injury plaintiffs.
